Erika Wurm - Plant Propagator Erika started her journey into the Horticulture world in 2004 at City College San Francisco. Pam Pierce's Intro course was the inspiration she needed to launch her into what is now her life passion. She has delved into different fields from Aboriculture with her internship with Friends of the Urban Forest and Alaska's Urban Forestry Dept.; in which she gave a presentation on Friends of the Urban Forest and her experience there. Also during her stint in AK she was able to kick-start her landscaping career at University Anchorage Alaska while also assisting the Head Horticulturist at the Alaska Botanical Gardens with Accession Records and using her artistic abilities to redo their bed maps and children’s garden guide. Returning to San Francisco, CA opened many gardening opportunities for her from private clients, Pier 39 and eventually the City of SF General Hospital. In her spare time Erika would volunteer at the SF Botanical Garden's Nursery and the GGPC Presidio Native Plant Nursery. It was here she discovered her interest of working in a nursery and a native one at that. Erika started working at the Watershed Nursery in June 2008 as Propagation Consultant to further her pursuit in a nursery career. Here Erika has cleaned seeds and potted plants for projects and stock. Her newest endeavors are continuing her pursuit in learning new propagation techniques and other aspects of running a nursery interning under the Nursery Manager and Nursery Specialist at the San Francisco's City Nursery. |
